Taking ideas beyond the boardroom…

This program was part of Meta’s initiative to support startups by offering dedicated mentors, training on building digital products, access to Meta’s technologies, a valuable network of experts and fellow founders.

Meta Accelerator Program

6 months program (2019 - 2020)

While at Brastorne, I participated in a program focused on product data analysis, performance metrics, cohort analysis, and A/B and multivariate testing for USSD products.

I applied these methods through database simulations to deepen user understanding, which informed the launch of 2 new SMS product verticals piloted to a market of 300,000 users.

I also attended a one-week, in-person program at Meta London Labs focused on user-centered product design, aesthetics, and branding. I applied these skills while collaborating with developers to launch an e-commerce app and website in Botswana.

Stanford Seed Program

A leadership initiative by Stanford School of Business that equips executives in emerging markets with mentorship, and strategic frameworks to scale businesses and drive sustainable growth.

I participated in weekly leadership labs with peers and senior management, collaborating on a Business Model Canvas to clearly articulate how the business created and delivered value.

Through this work, we refined the value propositions for two USSD products and re-positioned them through radio marketing to reach under-served users with limited internet access in Botswana.

I completed strategy mapping and sales funnel analysis, identifying issues such as complex menu structures and call-center training gaps. Working with the operations manager, I helped address these areas, improving operational efficiency by 35%.

U-Report is a free SMS-based polling and messaging platform for young people in Botswana. It allows youth to share their views on issues that matter to them by responding to polls and messages sent directly to their phones.

Developed by Brastorne in partnership with UNICEF, the platform supports large-scale data collection and civic engagement by gathering real-time responses and sharing insights with policy leaders to inform decision-making and social change.

UNICEF U-Report Program

I was part of the Brastorne strategy team that implemented and launched the U-Report program in Botswana, leading mall and school activations that registered over 20,000 U-Reporters.

I conducted primary research with respondents aged 13–35 to identify and prioritize feature needs for the social messaging platform, informing technical integration decisions.

I designed and ran online surveys with 300 respondents, conducted 30 field interviews, and facilitated 5 focus groups with 40 participants, synthesizing and presenting insights to key stakeholders.

BeSafe Covid-19 contact tracing App

Brastorne provided pro bono development support to build the bSafe COVID-19 contact-tracing app for the Government of Botswana.

The app supported national contact-tracing efforts by using QR codes at service points to help health officials identify, notify, and test individuals who may have been exposed to the virus.

I was part of the beta testing group, testing the Android and iOS applications for crash rates, load times, and user interface issues, and sharing feedback with the engineering team.

Following the nationwide launch to 1.5 million users, I tracked App Store reviews and monitored user feedback on social media, providing ongoing insights to inform post-launch improvements.

Blaza Marketplace

Blaza is a Botswana-based online marketplace that connects local businesses with customers through a web and mobile platform, enabling convenient shopping and delivery for products ranging from groceries to electronics.

I worked with product, research, and sales teams from ideation through launch, supporting merchant onboarding and successfully bringing 30 sellers onto the platform.

I planned, executed, and analyzed marketing campaigns across email, push notifications, social media ads, and in-app promotions.

I partnered with UX/UI designers to shape intuitive user flows and navigation for both the mobile app and website.

I coordinated with developers to test functionality, usability, and performance, ensuring the platform met defined user and feature requirements prior to launch.

USSD Products

Mpotsa is an SMS- and IVR-based information service that allows users to ask questions and receive on-demand responses about local information in Botswana.

Designed for users with limited internet access, the platform delivers content through SMS subscriptions and voice interactions via a contact center.

I conducted daily, weekly, and monthly performance analysis across the contact center and SMS subscription services.

I analyzed subscription, usage, and billing data, tracking new and cancelled users, retention, session activity, crash rates, and revenue performance.

I performed cohort analysis by age, gender, location, and purchasing behavior to understand user responses to promotions such as radio interviews, SMS campaigns, advertisements, and consumer fairs.

mAgri is a USSD-based mobile application designed for farmers in remote and low-connectivity areas.

It enables farmers to ask questions, access practical agricultural guidance, connect with farming communities, and share information on weather, crops, and market opportunities.

The platform was adopted by farmers across Botswana, Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, and Cameroon, becoming a trusted source of day-to-day farming support through basic mobile channels.

mAgri Services

I conducted data analysis to produce billing, subscription, and usage reports to track adoption and engagement across the platform.

I carried out market and content research to identify information relevant to rural farmers, including cattle farming ensuring the service reflected real farming needs.

I conducted user and market research to identify opportunities to improve the product, introduce new content verticals, and support expansion into new markets.

Solar Energy projects

  • I led the introduction of solar energy packages for domestic, office, and industrial customers, shaping offerings, pricing, and positioning.

  • Designed core brand and sales materials for B2B and B2C audiences and ran lead-generation campaigns for hybrid solar systems, achieving a 25% conversion rate.

  • Conducted competitive pricing analysis and worked with field technicians on site assessments, solution design, and post-installation quality checks.

  • Managed the end-to-end sales process, including quotations, invoicing (Xero), client communication, and tender submissions.
